Frequently Asked Questions
Everything you need to know about our guided walks through Meath's historic landscapes
Our Trim Castle and Newtown Abbey walks feature gentle terrain with regular rest points every 15-20 minutes. We keep groups small (maximum 8 people) so we can move at a comfortable pace that works for everyone. If you have specific mobility concerns, just let us know when you book and we'll discuss the best route for you.
Most of our walks run between 2 to 3 hours including stops. The Boyne Path walk is typically 2.5 hours with plenty of time to sit by the river and take in the views. We're not trying to rack up miles—we're here to enjoy the history and scenery at a relaxed pace.
The Trim Castle Boyne Path focuses on medieval riverside pathways with stories of the castle's role in Irish history and gorgeous river meadows. Newtown Abbey is more about monastic heritage—you'll explore the ruins, learn about the monks who lived there, and understand the architecture that's still standing after centuries. Both are equally rewarding, just different flavors of Irish heritage.
Comfortable walking shoes with good grip (the meadow paths can be muddy), a light waterproof jacket, and a bottle of water. We recommend dressing in layers since the Irish weather changes quickly. Most walks pass through open countryside, so sunscreen and a hat are smart too. We'll send you a full packing list when you book.
Absolutely. We can arrange private walks for groups of friends, families, or organizations. It's a lovely way to explore these historic sites together at your own pace. Get in touch and we'll work out the details and pricing.
We run walks spring through autumn (April to October) when the paths are most accessible and the weather is more reliable. Winter walks are possible but paths can be slippery, so we recommend the warmer months. Summer is peak season with longer daylight hours to really appreciate the landscapes.
